Cause
The outlet pipeline or the outlet filter (if fitted) is blocked.
Remedy
Clear exhaust path (replace or clear exhaust filter).
Cause
The pump temperature is below 12 °C.
Remedy
Warm pump to operate ambient temperature range (12 °C ~ 40 °C).
Cause
The oil is too viscous or it is contaminated.
Remedy
Replace the oil.
Cause
The pump has seized after long storage.
Remedy
Fill the pump with oil, close the inlet port and check the priming of the oil.
Cause
The pump has been left to stand after contaminants have been pumped and has
seized.
Remedy
Clean the pump and replace the oil.
Fault
The pump has failed to achieve the specified performance (has failed to reach
ultimate vacuum)
Cause
The pressure measurement technique or gauge head is unsuitable or gives an
incorrect indication of pressure. For example, a contaminated Pirani gauge can
indicate a pressure which is several times higher than the actual pressure in the
system.
Remedy
Replace the measurement technique or gauge head.
Cause
The pump has been filled with the wrong type of oil.
Remedy
Replace the oil with the correct type.
Cause
There is a leak in the vacuum system.
Remedy
Locate and repair the leak.
Cause
The mode selector and gas ballast control are set incorrectly.
Remedy
Set the mode selector to the correct position.
Cause
The oil level is below the minimum allowable level.
Remedy
Fill the pump with oil above the minimum allowable level.
Cause
The oil is contaminated.
Remedy
Replace the oil.
Cause
The vacuum fittings are dirty or damaged.
Remedy
Clean or replace the vacuum fittings.
