APPENDIX B: DUAL BIOS GEN 2 FUNCTION
Even for the most experienced user, failure when booting up BIOS is not uncommon, yet it can be the worst
nightmare. This can occur most often during a power failure, a mishandled BIOS update, a malware attack
resulting in data corruption or, worst scenario, due to physical damage causing malfunction of the BIOS.
When it happens, not merely will the recovering procedures consume considerable time and effort, but all
that work might also be to no avail. Eventually, users are left with no choice but to ship the board back to the
manufacturer.
Lanner understands this pain and has empowered our products with the Dual BIOS feature. Normally, the
Primary BIOS is used to boot the OS during powering up, however, when the Primary BIOS is down, the
Secondary BIOS automatically jumps in to boot up the OS for the user to take further steps such as performing
data backup and BIOS upgrade.
When Primary BIOS is down, Secondary
BIOS will automatically kick in.
