Adjust Timing of the Hoist

In some instances, the hoist can make a thumping or clunking noise every half-rotation of the
drum shaft. It is possible to adjust the timing of the hoist to reduce this noise. However, it should
be noted that there is no way to know exactly how much or in which direction the timing must
be adjusted.
The following steps describe how to adjust the timing of the hoist in general terms. If adjusting
the timing in one direction makes the rotation noise more audible, reverse the direction in which
you are adjusting the timing.
1. Bring the hoist down so it is resting on sawhorses or stands and the lift lines are just slightly
slack.
2. Remove the yellow Screw End cap.
3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two M5 screws securing the screw end anchor to
the hoist extrusion.
4. Insert the screwdriver into one of the 8 mm holes on the anchor and rotate the screw end
anchor either 1/8 or 1/4 of a turn in a counterclockwise direction.
Note:
end of the hoist. Turning the anchor clockwise shifts the lift lines toward the motor. An
1/8 turn moves everything .625 mm (0.025 in) and a 1/4 turn moves everything
1.25 mm (0.05 in).
5. Insert the screwdriver at an angle into one of the 8 mm holes on the anchor to get
leverage and then pull it back toward you so the M5 screws align with the screw holes in
the anchor.
6. Replace the M5 screws using the Phillips screwdriver and place the yellow end cap back
on the hoist.
