5. INSTALL THE CAMLOCKS
Using the centerline of the window and the measurements taken,
locate and install the outer camlocks of your track 6" inboard from
the outside of your track. See Figure 9.
For side draw applications, the track may not be symmetrically
located over the window to accommodate the stackback of the
drapery and the window overlap.
Be careful to install the camlocks in a straight line. We suggest the
continued use of a laser level during this process.
A) If using wall anchors, follow the manufacturer specifications
for each wall anchor. In cases where the anchor needs to be
installed through drywall mud and drywall tape, a 1/4" pilot hole
is recommended. Using firm pressure square to the ceiling will
reduce the likelihood of wall anchors stripping. Avoid stripping
the anchors by reducing torque level on your drill. Place the
appropriate spacer (if using a fascia) and the camlock against the
ceiling, lining the hole up with the anchor. Screw in the screw to
secure. Do not over torque. There should be no movement of the
washer or spacer after installation, but the camlock arm should
move freely. See Figure 10.
B) If drilling into a joice, no wall anchors are necessary. Carefully
drill a pilot hole for all screws. Use a 7/64" or 3/32" drill bit for
the pilot holes if using the provided screws. Place the appropriate
spacer (if using a fascia) and camlock against the ceiling, lining the
hole in the camlock up with the holes in the wall. Screw in the screw
until secure. Make sure your screw has solid embedment into the
joice. Do not over torque. There should be no movement by the
spacer or the washer after installation, but the camlock arm should
move freely. See Figure 11.
consider the substrate and pre-drill holes accordingly. If necessary,
C) If drilling into something other than drywall or a joice,
use wall anchors. Place the spacer (if using fascia) and camlock
against the ceiling, lining up the hole in the camlock with the hole in
the ceiling. Screw in the screw until secure. Make sure your screw
has solid embedment into the ceiling. Do not over torque. There
should be no movement by the spacer or washer after installation,
but the camlock arm should move freely. See Figure 12.
Once the outer camlocks have been installed, install each subsequent
camlock using the recommended spacing found on Table 1 below.
Follow steps A, B, or C above to install the remaining camlocks
along the ceiling.
