Measuring procedure

Warning! Risk of burns!

Contacting the electrode increases the risk of burn injuries. During normal
operation, the electrode will heat up to several hundred degrees.


If an adapter is used for several measurements in a row, it can get hot.


A sample can get hot if it is measured several times.

Warning! UV radiation!
The arc on the spark stand generates UV radiation. UV radiation may cause
damage to the eyes or skin.

Use the appropriate sample adapter for samples that are not completely
covered by the spark stand opening.

Take appropriate protective measures (e.g. wear safety goggles) when the
spark stand or the adapter openings are not fully covered.
Warning! Risk of electrical shock!
If the instrument is switched on, there is an inherent risk of electric shock from the
electrode and the sample. This can happen if contact with the test probe adapter
is lost during the measuring procedure.
For a healthy person, this electric shock is of no concern. These are low currents
and voltages which are below the limit values of EN 61010. However, a shock
may cause a subsequent accident, e.g. a fall from a ladder.

Therefore, make sure that the sample never loses contact with the test probe
adapter during the analysis.

Never touch the electrode with your bare hands, even after shutting
down the spectrometer. Always use pliers.
Touch the adapter only after it has sufficiently cooled.
Touch the sample only after it has sufficiently cooled.
