Prior to using the system, please carefully read this user manual, so that you will become fa- miliar with the system’s functionality and performance. This manual should be kept accessible for future use, as it will assist you with any queries you may have.

    Despite its smaller dimensions, the technical features of POS-4000 are quite formidable. It has the capability to connect to a PC, barcode reader, and scales. The POS 4000 is capable of communicating with a PC using the serial port, modem, or it can use a LAN (Local Area Network).

Function keys and department keys have transparent removable covers. You can greatly facilitate operation by marking the depart- ment keys as you wish (e.g.

This key also can be used to cancel wrongly entered function. The Refund key is used to refund money e.g. for a defective article; it can be done during a sale or as an individual transaction.

    PC keyboard A PC keyboard can also be connected externally to the POS-4000. Sale and registration is analogous to the POS keyboard. The keys that cannot be re-programmed are the same as in the EK-3000: Esc, Enter, Tab, Space, Shift+Tab and arrow keys. All other keys are programmable.

    Inserting the paper tapes into the printer The POS-4000 cash register requires 2.1" (54 mm) thermal paper tapes for its operation. One (on the left) is used for printing receipts and the other (right one) is used to print the hard copy journal.

    POS-4000 Programming Initialisation When used for the first time the POS-4000 has to be initialised. Initialisation is performed by the following procedure: Press OK without entering the login name and password in the login dialogue immediately after the application launches. Select the programming mode in the Mode selection dialogue and press the RESET button afterwards.
