5.2. Installation

Danger of falling!
Installation work for the pump and its accessories
is performed directly on the edge of the basin. Care-
lessness or wearing inappropriate clothing could
result in a fall. There is a risk of fatal injury! Take all
necessary safety precautions to prevent this.
Submerged Base Stand Installation
A separate ring base stand, which is available as an acces-
sory must be fixed at the bottom of the pump. Fix a 90°
elbow to the pump discharge. The pump may be installed
with a flexible discharge hose or a rigid pipe, non-return
valve and isolating valve. If a flexible hose is used, make
sure that it does not buckle. Fix a chain to the pump han-
dle and lower the pump into the liquid. If the pump is in-
stalled on muddy ground, support it on bricks to prevent
if from sinking in.
Wet Installation with Automatic Coupling System
The following instructions relate to installing the original
HOMA coupling system:
Position of the duck foot and upper pipe bracket for
the guide pipes to be established approximately, use
plumb bob as appropriate.
Check the correct installation dimensions of the
pump(s) (see dimensioned drawings in the appendix).
Drill fastening holes for the pipe bracket on the inside
of the shaft opening. If this is not possible, as there
is insufficient space, the pipe bracket may also be
fastened offset with an angle plate bent at 90° on the
underside of the shaft cover.
Fasten pipe bracket provisionally with 2 bolts.
Align the duck foot on the shaft floor, use plumb bob
from the pipe bracket, the guide pipes must stand
precisely vertically. Fasten duck foot with heavy duty
anchor bolts on the shaft floor. Ensure the duck foot
is precisely in a horizontal position. If the shaft floor is
uneven, support with an appropriate underlay.
Fit pressure line with fixtures according to the known
installation principles tension-free.
Plug both guide pipes into the eyes on the duck foot
and cut the pipe bracket to size according to position.
Unscrew pipe brackets, plug the pin into the guide
tubes and finally fasten the bracket. The guide pipes
must be seated absolutely backlash-free, as other-
wise loud noises will emerge when the pump is op-
erated.
Before commissioning, clean the shaft of solid ob-
jects (rubble, stones etc.).
Fit the coupling counter-flange of the automatic cou-
pling system on the pump pressure joint (threaded or
flanged connection). Ensure that the rubber profiled
seal (as a seal against the duck foot) is seated secure-
ly in the counter-flange, so that it cannot fall out when
the pump is lowered.
Fasten the chain to the pump carrying handle or car-
rying lugs. Guide the pump into the shaft with the
guide claw of the coupling counter-flange between
the guide tubes. Lower the pump into the shaft.
When the pump is resting on the duck foot, it seals
automatically to the pressure line and is operational.
Hang the outlet end on a hook in the shaft opening.
Hang the motor connection cable of the pump in the
shaft with a strain relief with a suitable length. Ensure
that the cable cannot be kinked or damaged.
If the pump's pressure side connection is frequently dry,
due to, for example, evaporation of the residual water in
the shaft, it is necessary to vent the pump housing per-
manently.
In order to ensure this, a 6 mm-wide hole can be bored
into the pump housing. The hole is bored into the pump
housing as shown in the sketch, opposite the pressure
side connection at a 45° angle.
