6.0 Inspection/Replacement Procedures

6.1 V-Belts

Narrow type V-belts are used for this unit. Refer to
Table 6-1a & 6-1b for the correct size.
6.1.1 Tension Check

Before
starting
procedures, disconnect all power to the
package.
Never perform any maintenance functions
while the unit is in operation.
Release all pressure from the package
before removing, loosening, or servicing any
covers, guards, fi ttings, connections, or other
devices.

Check the belt tension monthly. Disconnect the

main power and remove the beltguard. As shown
5
in the illustration below, Figure 6.1, defl ect each
V-belt at the center of the drive span with a spring
5
balance or tension meter at the tension force of
5
Table 6-1. Then check that the average defl ections
5
at the proper tension force are approximately the
same values as shown in Table 6-1.

6.1.2 V-Belt Tension Adjustment
If necessary, adjust the V-belts until the average
defl ections are within the values shown in Table
6-1.
