8. Troubleshooting

The following table lists some problems that may be
encountered, with possible causes and solutions.
If a problem persists after reading through the Troubleshooting
section, contact the local dealer, distributor or Wallenstein
Equipment. Have the machine serial number ready.
Problem
Cylinder rods move slowly or do not
move (main boom, dipper boom,
grapple, stabilizers).
Jerky cylinder movement
Control handle does not go to neutral
when released.
Leaking hydraulic hose.
Leaking cylinder.
Hydraulic controls (from tractor) behave
erratically.
Boom drifts down.
Boom does not rotate or rotates slowly.
No brakes.
Surging brakes
Engine related issues
Refer to the engine owner's manual found in the manual tube.
Cause
No pressurized hydraulic oil.
Hydraulic hoses switched ay grapple.
Not enough oil flow.
Low engine speed.
Leak in hydraulic system. Air getting into
system.
Return springs collapsed.
No pressurized hydraulic oil.
Control may be damaged.
Hose worn or damaged.
Seals worn.
Hydraulic circuit type on tractor does not
match boom/grapple control valve type (open
center—closed center).
Leaking cylinder seals.
Counterbalance valve defective.
Boom lock pin is still in place.
No pressurized hydraulic oil.
Hydraulic hoses switched.
Low engine speed.
Boom slew assembly gears jammed.
Boom slew assembly requires lubrication.
Brake lockout engaged (LXT95).
Trailer connector, wiring issue (LXT115).
Broken or leaking brake line (LXT95).
Brakes not adjusted correctly.
Grease or oil on brakes linings.

Troubleshooting
Solution
Oil filter plugged. Change filter.
Low hydraulic oil level. Add oil.
Check color code and match connections.
Flow control set too low. Set control higher for
more flow.
Make sure engine choke is off. Check throttle is
correctly set.
Tighten all hydraulic connections.
Replace.
Oil filter plugged. Change filter.
Low hydraulic oil level. Add oil.
Control may need service or be replaced. Call
service technician.
Replace.
Seal replacement may be required. Call service
technician.
Call service technician.
Replace seals.
Repair or replace valve.
Remove.
Oil filter plugged. Change filter.
Low hydraulic oil level. Add oil.
Flow control set too low. Adjust.
Switch input / output hydraulic hose connections.
Make sure engine choke is off. Check throttle is
correctly set.
Clear debris from gears
Grease boom slew assembly.
Disengage lockout.
Inspect connectors and wiring. Clean contacts,
replace broken wires.
Replace brake line.
Check and adjust.
Clean or replace.
