6.9 Starting the Engine

CAUTION!
Before starting engine, review the operating and
maintenance instructions in the engine manual.
CAUTION!
Hearing loss hazard. Prolonged
exposure to loud noise may cause
permanent hearing loss. Use suitable
protection while operating the
machine.
Make sure the wood splitter is set up to work and otherwise
ready to run.
1. If the engine is cold, close the choke (push choke lever
to the left). To start a warm engine, leave the choke open
(lever pushed to the right).

2. Move the throttle lever away from the MIN. position, about
1/3 of the way toward the MAX position.

3. Turn the engine ignition switch ON.

4. Pull the starter grip out lightly until resistance is felt, then
pull briskly in the direction of the arrow as shown below.
Return the starter grip gently.

IMPORTANT! Do not allow the starter grip to snap back
against the engine. Return it gently to prevent damage to the
starter.
5. Leave the engine operating at low throttle for a few minutes
to allow it to warm up. Gradually push the choke control
lever open (to the left) as the engine warms.
IMPORTANT! Engine should be warmed up before putting to
work.
6. Once the engine is warmed, increase the throttle setting to
MAX before beginning.

6.10 Stopping the Engine

To stop the engine in an emergency, turn the ignition switch OFF.
Correct fault situation before restarting.
