DCR 100
CYLINDER COMPONENTS
Principal cylinder components:
I. Cylinder rod-end head
II. Cylinder barrel
III. Rod gland
IV. Piston rod (runs inside barrel)
V. Piston
VI. Cylinder head
Disassembling
Replace seals with signs of wear or damage!
Preparations
Separate cylinder from swivel and hydraulic
manifold as described in previous chapter
"Hydraulic manifold".
ROD ASSEMBLY
1. Secure cylinder head in a vise.
(a) unscrew rod gland from cylinder
barrel
– pin-spanner: Ø 8mm/cc 147mm
Cu: Reassembling, apply a coat of
copper paste to rod gland threads.
(b) remove plastic drain plugs
2. Drain hydraulic fluid out of cylinder
barrel and piston rod.
– place fluid collector vessel under-
neath
– tip cylinder and remove drain
screws
3. Pull out the rod assembly.
– fit a metal rod through cylinder
head to form a firm grip
– pull evenly
PISTON AND GLAND
4. Piston and exterior gland seals:
(c) U-cup seal (blue)
(d) Oring (black)
(e) support rings (×2)
N.B. Before mounting: Always
add Hydraulic Fluid to flexible
parts, seals, O-rings etc.
5. Cylinder barrel interior
6. Remove seals
– use a fine tool to carefully pick
and remove each seal
REASSEMBLING
Simply reverse the above procedures.
