"1:1" means that the master clock is left unchanged. This is indicated when the master
clock frequency is below 27MHz. "2:1" means that the input master clock frequency is
halved. This is mandatory when the input master clock is 45.1584MHz or 49.152MHz.
7.5.5. DSD FILTER: Choosing the DSD Filter
The YOUNG MKIV allows user to choose amongst two different FIR filters for DSD which
differ for cut-off frequency and spurious attenuation.
7.5.6. THD+N VS S/N: Optimizing DAC performance
The YOUNG MKIV conversion process can be optimized for best harmonic distortion
(THD+N) or for best signal-to-noise ratio. The first option is mostly relevant with high level
recordings, while the second one is to be preferred with high dynamic recordings with a lot
of low-level passages and low-level detail.
7.5.7. BAL OUT VOLTAGE: Choosing the Maximum Balanced Output Level
The YOUNG MKIV can be used as either a normal source (when it's connected to one of the
inputs of an integrated amplifier or a preamplifier), or as a preamplifier (when it's
connected to a power amplifier). The two setups require the YOUNG MKIV to provide
different output levels. In fact, many power amplifiers require higher voltages than those
