M.2 Slot
The X11SPA-TF has four M.2 slots. M.2 was formerly called Next Generation Form Factor
(NGFF) and are used to replace mini PCI-E. M.2 supports a variety of card sizes with
increased functionality and spatial efficiency. The M.2 socket on the motherboard supports
PCI-E 3.0 x4 (32 Gb/s) SSD cards in the 2280 and 22110 form factors.
The M.2 slots affect the configuration of the CPU SLOT 1 PCI-E slot. If all four M.2 slots are
unoccupied, CPU SLOT 1 is a x16 slot. If M.2-C01, M.2-C02, or both are occupied, CPU SLOT
1 is disabled. If M.2-C03, M.2-C04, or both are occupied and neither M.2-C01 nor M.2-C02
are occupied, then CPU SLOT 1 is a x8 slot. The table below shows the M.2 slots and the
CPU SLOT 1 configurations. Chapter 1 contains a layout of the motherboard.
