INSTALLATION GUIDE

Warning
External and internal units installation must always be carried out
by a qualifi ed technician.
EXTERNAL UNIT

Before installing the appliance

• The external unit uses a HFC (R-410A) type liquid refrigerant,
which does not affect the integrity of the ozone layer.
• Check that the material used for maintenance and the fi lling com-
ponents can be used with the R-410A liquid refrigerant.
• The R-410A liquid containers are equipped with a dip tube which
allows liquid to fl ow out only when placed in a vertical position with
the valve in the upper position.
• The R-410A systems should be fi lled with the liquid refrigerant in-
dicated. Apply a dispenser, which is commercially available, to the
pipe sleeve, in order to vaporise the liquid refrigerant before it en-
ters the external unit.
• The R-410A liquid refrigerant, as is the case with all HFC fl uids, is
compatible only with oils recommended by the compressor manu-
facturer.
• The vacuum pump is insuffi cient to fully eliminate the moisture
from the oil.
• POE type oils rapidly absorb moisture. Do not expose the oil to the
air.
• Never open the system when it is under vacuum.
• Do not allow the R-410A liquid refrigerant to disperse into the en-
vironment.
• The oil contained in the compressor is extremely hygroscopic.
• Ensure that all applicable national standards in terms of safety are
respected, throughout the course of the external unit installation.
• Ensure that the system has adequate grounding. Check that the
power supply voltage and frequency match those required by the
external unit, and that the installed power is suffi cient for its opera-
tion.
• Check that the power circuit impedance corresponds to the elec-
trical power consumed by the external, as shown on the external
unit data plate (EN 61000-3-12).
• Check that correctly sized differential and safety switches are con-
nected to the external unit.
NOTE: The external unit features and codes are indicated on the data
plate.

Choosing the placement
• Avoid positioning the external unit in places which are diffi cult to
access for subsequent installation and maintenance operations.
• Avoid positioning the units close to heat sources.
• Avoid positioning in locations where the external unit is subject to
continuous vibrations.
• Do not position the unit on bearing structures which cannot be
guaranteed to support it.
• Avoid positions close to gas fuel tanks or connections.
• Avoid positions which allow exposure to oil vapours.
• Avoid positions which are subject to particular environmental con-
ditions.
• Choose a position where the noise and air emitted by the external
unit will not disturb those in the vicinity of it.
• Choose a sheltered position from wind.
• Provide a position which will enable the required installation dis-
tances to be maintained.
• Avoid positioning in a location which prevents access to doors and/
or corridors.
• The supporting ground structure must be able to sustain the exter-
nal unit weight, and reduce all possible vibrations to a minimum.
• If the external unit is installed in a location where abundant snowfall
can be expected, install the unit at least 200 mm above the usual
level of snowfall, or use a support bracket for the external unit.
