Tools Required:
1. Turn off the engraver and disconnect it from its power
source.
2. Open the access window.
3. Move the X-axis assembly to the center of the engraver.
4. Loosen, but do not remove the seven screws, two on the
front and five on the rear, which secure the yellow x-
axis cover. Remove the cover and set it to one side.
5. Directly behind the lens carriage is the Encoder reader
assembly. Attached to the encoder reader is a white
ribbon cable. Remove the cable by depressing the clip
and pulling the connector to the left.
6. The Encoder reader needs to be removed. The reader can
be removed by removing the 3/32 Allen screws which
secure the board to the lens carriage.
7. The encoder strip is the clear piece of plastic about
the thickness of a sheet of paper that sits vertically
in the x-axis assembly as shown in picture 1

Remove the 13 screws which secure the Encoder strip and the Encoder strip support (this is the small aluminum bar that is between the screws and the Encoder strip itself.
