Butterfly valve disassembly
(removing actuator from body)
Tool required for disassembling
the actuator:
Open-end wrench SW 8

Important:
After disassembly, clean all parts
of contamination (do not damage
parts). Check parts for potential
damage, replace if necessary (only
use genuine parts from GEMÜ).
Removing the actuator
1. Depressurize and drain the plant or plant
component.
2. Move the butterfl y valve to the closed
position.
3. Disconnect electrical wire(s).
4. Unscrew hexagon screws 1.
5. Do not lose the washers 2.
6. Remove the actuator 4 from the butterfl y
valve body 5.
® The actuator is now disassembled.

Disassembling the seat

Tools required for
disassembling the seat:
Wrench SW 8

Allen key SW 5

Bearing grease, standard:

Dow Corning Molykote
Compound
Bearing grease, silicone-free:

Klübersynth VR 69-252 N
1. Remove the actuator (see chapter 14.1
"Butterfly valve disassembly").
2. Remove the caps 1.
3. Loosen hexagon socket screws 2.
4. Do not lose the hexagon nuts.
5. Press open the two halves of the
butterfl y valve.
6. Do not lose the two square nuts 1 and
caps 2.
7. Remove the disc with seat 3.
8. Squeeze the seat 1 and pull forward
down over the short part of the shaft 2.
Disassemble the seat
9. Pull the seat up over the long part of the
shaft 3.
® The seat has now been disassembled.
