Console port (RS-232 DCE
Out-of-band )management requires connecting a PC (with a
SNMP management platform) to the RS-232 DCE console port of
the Switch. Switch management using terminal emulation/ VT100
when connected to the RS-232 DCE console port is called Local
Console Managment to differentiate it from management done via
management platforms.

Each Switch has its own IP Address, which is used for
communication with an SNMP network manager or other TCP/IP
application (for example BOOTP, TFTP).
default Switch IP Address to meet the specification of your
networking address scheme.
In addition, you can also set in the Switch an IP Address for a
gateway or a router. It is useful when the network management
station is not located on the same network as the Switch, making
it necessary for the Switch to go through a gateway or router to
reach the network manager.
