PRELIMINARy PHASES FOR USE
Starting the appliance
Check that the voltage of the domestic network is the same as that indicated on the technical information plate of the appli-
ance. Place the appliance on a flat surface, ensuring the suction cups stick firmly to the surface.
Before using the appliance for the first time wash the tank. Fill it up with fresh cool water and insert it in its housing. Insert
the plug into the socket, which must be earthed.
If water drips out of the pipe inside the tank, this does not mean the machine is faulty but it is a sign that the priming
valve is working normally.
Starting the first time
After having filled the tank with cool tap water, start the machine by pressing the button (G). The indicator lamp (H) will turn
on, indicating that the machine is on, as well as indicator lamp (L), indicating that the internal boiler is starting to heat up.
Press the coffee dispensing button (I) until you see water come out of the filter holder seat (Fig. 5).
If you are starting the machine for the first time or after a period of time during which it has not been used, it is
recommended that at least one cup of water be allowed to pass through the boiler's hydraulic circuit; with the coffee
dispensing button down, turn the steam dispensing knob clockwise (S), after placing a cup under the nozzle of the
MAXI CAPPUCCINO attachment (C).
Turn the knob in the opposite direction (S) to stop the water from coming out of the cappuccino maker and release the but-
ton (I). After a short while you will notice that the indicator lamp (L) turns off to indicate that the boiler has reached the right
temperature for preparing coffee.
HOW TO MAKE COFFEE
Put the Thermocream® Disc (M), the silicone ring (O) and the Thermocream® Filter (N) into the filter holder in the order
indicated (Fig. 3). Measure out the coffee in the filter and lightly press with the specially provided presser. Insert the filter
holder into its seat. Tighten the filter holder while making sure you have hooked it properly onto the flange (Fig. 6).
Warning!
If too much ground coffee is put inside the filter, turning the filter holder may prove difficult and/or you may get leaks
from the filter holder when the coffee is being dispensed.
It is advisable to let the filter holder heat up a few minutes in its seat before making a cup of coffee so that the first cup is
piping hot, too. This will not be necessary for the cups of coffee that follow.
Press the button (I). The coffee will start coming out of the spouts of the filter holder. Press the button (I) again to stop it.
The minimum serving of coffee is 50 ml.
Warning!
Like in professional coffee machines, do not remove the filter holder when the dispensing switch (I) is on; danger
of burns!
After the coffee is made, gradually loosen the filter holder by turning it clockwise so as to decrease pressure inside of it.
When the machine is stopped waiting for commands, the lamp (L) will turn on and off periodically. This shows that the boiler
thermostat is tripping, which serves to keep the water temperature optimum. It is a good idea to start dispensing the coffee
only when this indicator lamp is off, and this is true for both the first cup and those that follow.
The ARIETE Thermocream® system was specially designed to best meet all of the consumer's needs, and is made up
of two components: the Thermocream® filter (N), fitted with a single drawing spout (Fig. 10), which helps the formation of
cream, and the Thermocream® plastic disc (M) with the silicon ring (O) which may be used as follows:
- By inserting all three of them inside the filter holder, you get a cup of coffee with finer cream (Fig. 3).
- By using only the filter (N), you get a cup of coffee with higher cream (Fig. 4).
Cleaning the three components often, will help guaranteeing its preservation in time.
Filling the water tank during use
No special operation is necessary when the water in the tank runs out as the machine is equipped with a special self-priming
device. Just unplug the machine, pull out the tank and fill it with fresh cool water again.
