    The Microcom 410 ECA printer and printhead should be cleaned approximately every 5,000 tags or every two weeks whichever occurs first. A Microcom cleaning kit should be used for cleaning and maintaining a Microcom printer product. It is important to note that the optimum printhead life is achieved by maintaining a clean printer and printhead.

    The following sections explain the communication interfaces. CABLE PINOUT Table 2 shows the signals of the 410 ECA's 9-pin RS-232 serial port. Out of the box, unless otherwise requested, the Microcom 410 ECA communicates serially at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and no parity with both hardware and software handshaking.

There are some special features offered by the 410 ECA printer that will aid tag design. For example, the autosize command (^A2^D39 ) will provide most of the header format information needed to define the different properties of tag stock.

    The value of measurement for many of the header elements is the dot. There are 154 dots per inch on a 410 ECA print head (6 dots/mm). There is a maximum 640 dots in the X direction (width). Y direction (length) is virtually unlimited.

    This PC software program decodes a PCX file into an ogo file that can be down-loaded to the 410 ECA printer. It supports all the 410 ECA logo features. The PCX or PCC file must meet the 248 X 248 pixel scale- excluding white space - for the program to create the picture.

    LIMITED WARRANTY A Microcom cleaning kit must be purchased with each printer to validate warranty. For a period of 12 months Microcom warrants its products against defects in materials and workmanship. The thermal print head is warranted for a period of three months or 500,000 linear inches to be free from defects in material of workmanship.
