WARNING
The outboard motor can be seriously damaged by a col-
lision while operating or trailering. Damage could make
the outboard motor unsafe to operate.
If the outboard motor hits an object in the water, follow the
procedure below.
1.
Stop the engine immediately.
2.
Check the control system and all components for dam-
age. Also, check the boat for damage.
3.
Whether damage is found or not, return to the nearest
harbor slowly and carefully.
4.
Have a Yamaha dealer check the outboard motor before
operating it again.

Running in an emergency (multiple engines)
Normally operate all outboard motors together for cruising.
If any of the engines cannot be operated during an emergen-
cy, be sure to keep the unused engine(s) tilted up and oper-
ate the other engine(s) at low speed.

NOTICE
If any of the engines cannot be operated, be sure to tilt
the unused engine(s) up. Otherwise, water could enter
the exhaust pipe due to the wave action, causing engine
trouble.
TIP:
When maneuvering at low speed, such as near a dock, it is
recommended to tilt down the unused engine(s) and operate
the unused engine(s) in neutral gear if possible.

Substituting an incorrect fuse or a piece of wire could al-
low excessive current flow. This could cause electric
system damage and a fire hazard.
The location of the fuse box for this model is shown in the
following illustration.
