17. Place o-ring (22) into cover assembly counterbore. Use
petroleum jelly or grease to hold o-ring in place. Slight
stretching of o-ring may be necessary to insure proper
seating.
18. Place carrier assembly on a flat surface with large gears
up and positioned as shown. Find punch marked tooth
on each large gear and locate at 12 o'clock (straight up)
from each planet pin. Marked tooth will be located just
under carrier on upper two gears.
19. With shoulder side of ring gear (21) facing down, place
ring gear over (into mesh with) large gears. Ensure
punch marks remain in correct location during ring gear
installation. The side of the ring gear with 'X' stamped
on it should be up.

20. While holding ring gear, and cluster gears in mesh, place
small side of cluster gears into mesh with internal gear.
On ring gear, locate hole marked 'X' over one of the
marked counterbored holes in hub.
NOTE: If gears do not mesh easily or carrier assembly does not
rotate freely, then remove carrier and ring gear and check
cluster gear timing.
21. Install input gear (37) into the carrier assembly, meshing
with large diameter cluster gears (18). Counterbore in
bore of input gear must be to outside of carrier assem-
bly.
22. After inserting at least one bolt in the proper location,
rotate the carrier. Check freedom of rotation and timing.
