NOTE:
If you change the tractor for this machine, re-check the PIC length; if the PIC
length is not properly adjusted, the machine may fail.
5.3. Setting the mower load floating
5.3.1. Setting the ALPINA disc mower load float
The standard equipment of the mower does not include any load floating springs. Set the mower
deck load float by lowering the mower to the ground and set the TPH link arm to float. Next, adjust the
load floating pressure to provide the right pressure of the mower deck on the ground. To ensure the
best possible mowing performance and minimise the wearing of parts, the mower deck ground pressure
should be within 60-70 kg/lin.m of the cutting assembly.
If the tractor features no floating feature in the hydraulic system, install the dedicated load
floating springs. The installation of the load floating springs on the machine is shown in Fig. 18.
5.3.2. Setting the SAMBA F disc mower load float
The standard equipment of the SAMBA F disc mower includes load floating springs. To install
the load floating springs, lift the mower on the TPH to the maximum height and install the load floating
springs on their brackets on the tractor so that when the mower is lowered level with the tractor, each
spring is tensioned from 47 cm to approximately 56 cm of length. It is recommended that each spring
is within an imaginary rectangle of 75x45 cm (Fig. 19). (With this setting, the mower deck ground
pressure is approx. 220 kg).
CAUTION!
If the load float is insufficient, the mower might damage the turf or fail under
extreme conditions. If the load float is too strong, the mower may fail to properly
cut on uneven ground. See Table 7.
