Cutting Unit Operation Problems
Condition

Engine continues to run (but
should not) when PTO switch is
ON with no operator on the seat.

Cutting unit runs (but should not)
when raised, but shuts off with
PTO switch.

Cutting units shut off when
raised, but do not shut off with
PTO switch.

Cutting units run (but should not)
with axle in "HI" range.

One cutting unit does not operate.
Troubleshooting
Possible Cause
Seat switch plunger depressed
with no operator on seat.
Seat switch faulty or out of adjust-
ment.
Time delay relay faulty.
Lift arm (Reel) switch faulty.
Reel solenoid valve sticking.
Cutting unit relay faulty.
PTO switch faulty.
Axle HI/Low switch faulty.
Cutting unit relay faulty.
Lift arm (Reel) switch faulty.
Lift arm (Reel) switch wiring loose,
corroded or damaged.
Reel solenoid valve faulty.
Reel solenoid wiring loose, cor-
roded or damaged.
Problem is not electrical.

Correction
Check for seat support spring
that is broken, missing or stuck in
down position.
Check for binding seat pivot
hinge.
Check for waterlogged seat.
Test seat switch. Adjust or re­
place if faulty.
Test relay. Replace if faulty.
Test reel switch. Replace if faulty.
Make sure switch is screwed in
all the way. Check for damaged
pivot shaft or bushings and repair
if damaged.
Inspect valve and clean or repair
valve if necessary.
Test relay. Replace if faulty.
Test switch. Replace if faulty.
Test HI/Low switch. Replace
switch if faulty.
Test cutting unit relay. Replace if
faulty.
Test reel switch. Replace if faulty.
Repair wiring.
Test reel solenoid valve. Repair
or replace if faulty.
Repair wiring.
