4.4 Checking User Security Management

Purpose
This topic describes how to check the user security management configuration to confirm
the system administrator identities.
Steps
1. Check the usernames and the passwords.
2. Check the enable passwords.
Reference Standards
Run the show running-config adm-mgr command to check the usernames and the
passwords.
In normal situations, the user passwords are displayed in the encrypted format. Consider
the following suggestions while setting the password.
l
Do not use simple words such as zte, zxr10 and who as usernames.
l
Set a user password with at least 6 bits. Set the password containing at least two of
the following types: number, lowercase, uppercase and special character.
If the user passwords are not displayed with in the encrypted format, it is necessary to
encrypt them.
For example:
