6.1 Checking the Equipment Room Environment
Purpose
This topic describes how to check the equipment room environment to ensure the
protection and safety of working environment.
Steps
1. Check fire protection.
2. Check measures against theft.
3. Check equipment grounding.
4. Check the power supply redundancy.
5. Check the board redundancy.
Reference Standards
1. Check the cabinet, the rack and the cable tray.
In normal situations, there should not be any hidden fire alarm at any place in the
equipment room. The fire protection facilities in the equipment room should be in good
condition and can be used.
2. Check the doors, the windows and the security nets of the equipment room.
In normal situations, all the doors, the windows and the security nets of the equipment
room should be in good condition.
3. Use a multimeter to measure the earthing resistance.
In normal situation, the earthing resistance should be less than 1 Ohm.
4. Check the power supply system redundancy in the equipment room.
Generally, there should be a UPS in the equipment room. For a core equipment room,
there should be storage batteries.
5. Check the storeroom.
Generally, for the important components on the equipment, such as MPU and PIU,
there should be spare ones.
