Configuring a Port

This section describes how to configure a port, including its working mode and local exchange
function.
Context
The virtual local area network (VLAN) technology logically divides a group of PCs into the same
VLAN. Because the PCs are divided logically, the VLAN features the following advantages:
Native VLAN and VLAN Pri are configured by the OLT through the OMCI. You need not configure
them on the OT925-G.
If the local exchange function is enabled, the devices connecting to the OT925-G can directly
communicate with each other.

Issue 02 (2007-08-30)
The PCs in the same VLAN do not have to be placed in the same physical
location. That is, the PCs can belong to different LAN segments.
The broadcast traffic and unicast traffic in the same VLAN will not be
forwarded to other VLANs. This helps control the traffic, reduce the device
investment, simplify the network management, and improve the network
security.
