11.1

Introduction

The new AS-i Safety Monitor – in conjunction with Pepperl+Fuchs GmbH AS-i
Masters – offers not only superior on-location operation and diagnostics, but also
makes this also accessible over the network.
11.2

Spontaneous messages

The strategy for spontaneous display of messages for AS-i masters is:
When the AS-i network is functioning error-free, a smiley is displayed.
When the fieldbus communication is failed, a text message is displayed.
When there is a fault on an AS-i slave, this is displayed until the fault is no
longer present.
For the Safety Monitor the desire is to keep the concept as similar as possible,
since it is so familiar to and accepted by customers.
When there are no faults present, the states of the safety unit are displayed as a
text beneath the smiley.
When two local release circuits are present, a line is displayed with their status, or
two lines for 4 local circuits.
