Vehicle care
Tyre placard
The correct pressures for tyres are
shown on the tyre placard in the
passenger's door frame.
Always inflate the spare tyre
to the pressure specified for
maximum load.
Tread depth
Check tread depth at regular
intervals.
•
Replace the tyres when:
They are worn to the point where
the tread wear indicators (TWI)
appear.
The tyres originally fitted to the
vehicle have built in TWI. These
show as plain bars across the
tread pattern at regular intervals
across the tyre.
•
If there is more wear on the front
tyres than on the rear, swap the
front and rear wheels.
Ensure the direction of rotation of
the wheels is the same as it was
previously.
•
Tyres age, even if they are not
used. Replacement of tyres
every six years is recommended.
Warning
Do not attempt to drive on a
flat tyre more than is necessary
to stop safely. Driving even a
short distance can damage the
tyre and wheel beyond repair.
Tyres which have been repaired
or retreaded are not capable
of being driven safely at high
speeds. Therefore, their use is
not recommended.
