Coverings/dampenings
K - Screw out the screws.
- Pull off the dash panel -1- from the central
pipe and remove from the vehicle.
Installing
- Installation takes place in the reverse order.
For vehicles MJ03 ä (with switch for the
front passenger airbag)
- Switch on the ignition before attaching the
battery
Take care!
There must be no-one sitting in the vehicle when
the battery is attached.
Note:
Additional work is to be undertaken when dis-
connecting and re-connecting the battery earth

Removing and installing the dash
panel 08.98 ä
Removing
- Unclamp the battery earth band.
- Remove the middle console ⇒ 68-4.1
- Remove the storage compartment under the
dash panel ⇒ Page 68-4
- Set the steering wheel -1- to its middle posi-
tion (wheels pointing in the straight ahead
position)
- Remove the steering wheel ⇒ Page 69-12
K - Screw out screws -2- and -3-.
- Remove the coverings -4- and -5- for the
steering column switch.
- Remove the restoring ring with slip ring
⇒ Page 69-12.1 (only for vehicles fitted with
airbags)
- Remove the switch located below the steer-
ing wheel ⇒ Electrical System, Rep.Gr. 94.
Note:
The steering column switch can remain installed.
K - Lever out the covers -2-.
- Screw out the screws -1-.
K - Remove the cover for the dash panel insert
