Potential equalization

Protective connections for a central components (AM600)
The SINAMICS S Booksize drive system and the Adapter Module 600 (AM600) are designed
for use in cabinets with a PE conductor connection.
The protective conductor connection of the SINAMICS components must be connected to
the protective conductor connection of the control cabinet as follows:

For materials other than copper, the cross-section should be increased so that as a
minimum, the same conductivity is attained.
All system components and machine parts must be incorporated in the protection concept.
The drive line-up must be arranged on a common bare metal mounting plate in order to
comply with the EMC limit values. The mounting plate must be connected to the protective
conductor connection of the control cabinet through a low impedance.
Protective equalization for a central components (AM600)
A mounting plate serves simultaneously as potential equalization surface. This means that
no additional equipotential equalization is required within the drive line-up.
If a common bare metal mounting plate is not available, then equally good potential
equalization must be established using cable cross-sections as listed in the table above or,
as a minimum, with the same conductivity.
Protective connections/potential equalization for distributed components
● The distributed components are designed for use with a connected protective conductor.
● All system components and machine parts must be incorporated in the protection
concept.
● Ensure that the following protective conductor connection paths are available:
– Via the Hybrid Cable.
– Via the PE connection. In this case, the protective conductor cross-section must be
