Starter
Fit the new starter cord, pressure equali-
sation spring and drive disc. Tighten the
screw in the centre of the pulley.
Fit the starter handle.
Tighten the recoil spring.
Check the spring tension.
Assemble the starter.
Fit the new starter cord (length 900 mm).
NOTE!
Replace any starter cord without
removing the starter pulley.
Make sure the knot is as small as possible
and goes down into the notch in the pulley.
Fit the pressure equalisation spring and
drive disc. Tighten the screw in the centre
of the pulley.
Fit the starter handle onto the cord.
Pull the starter cord through the handle.
Tie a double knot in the starter cord and
pull it into the handle.
Tighten the recoil spring.
Pull the starter cord out completely and
slow the starter pulley with your thumb.
Lift the cord into the notch on the starter
pulley.
Then turn the starter pulley anticlockwise
7 times.
Check the spring tension. When the start-
er pulley is pulled all the way out it should
be possible to turn the pulley a further 1/2
turn at least.
Mount the starter on the engine body.
Hold the starter in place and tighten the 4
screws.
Check that the starter works correctly.
NOTE!
Make sure the handle tab on the
heat shield behind the muffl er is
inserted into the slot in the starter.
