Crankshaft and crankcase
Dismantle the ball bearing from the crank-
shaft.
504 90 90-01
Dismantle the sealing ring on the crank-
case half on the fl ywheel side.
505 38 17-09
Dismantle the sealing ring on the crank-
case half on the starter side.
Inspecting the crankshaft
Inspect the large end of the connecting
rod.
Dismantle the ball bearing from the crank-
shaft using a suitable pulling device.
Dismantle the sealing ring on the crank-
case half on the fl ywheel side using a
mandrel or hammer.
Carry out this procedure while the crank-
case half is still warm.
Let the circlip remain in place in the bear-
ing seating.
Dismantle the sealing ring on the crank-
case half on the starter side.
Use a suitable punch or sleeve and knock
out the sealing rings with the help of a
hammer. Do this while the crankcase half
is still warm if possible.
Now clean the crankcase halves and
crankshaft.
Inspecting the crankshaft
The crankshaft cannot be reconditioned
but must be replaced if it is worn or dama-
ged.
Inspect the large end of the connecting
rod. If seizure marks, discolouration on
the sides or damaged needle holders are
found the crankshaft must be replaced.
