Starter
Loosen the spring tension.
Lift up the starter cord on the starter pul-
ley and allow it to rotate backwards until
the spring tension ceases.
Dismantle the screw, drive disc and pres-
sure equalisation spring.
Make sure the starter pulley does not
move as well.
Assembly
Fit the return spring in the starter housing.
Loosen the spring tension.
Pull out the starter cord about 30 cm.
Slow the starter pulley with your thumb.
Lift the starter cord up out of the cut-out
on the starter pulley.
Let the starter pulley rotate backwards
until the spring tension ceases.
WARNING!
Be careful not to injure your thumb
when the starter pulley rotates in
reverse.
Dismantle the screw (A) in the centre of
the starter pulley.
Carefully remove the drive disc (B) and
the pressure equalisation spring (C) so
that the starter pulley does not move as
well, causing the starter spring to pop out.
NOTE
Replace any starter cord without
removing the starter pulley.
WARNING!
Wear protective glasses.
The recoil spring lies tensioned
in the starter housing and can fl y
out and cause personal injury with
careless handling.
Assembly
If the recoil spring fl ies out in spite of care-
ful handling or if a new spring needs to be
fi tted, proceed as follows:
1. The spring lies tensioned with a sturdy
steel wire in a shrink wrap.
Cut the package open very carefully in
order to prevent the spring from pop-
ping out.
2. Position the spring in the starter hous-
ing.
3. Keep the spring in place using one of
your thumbs.
4. Use a screwdriver to push the spring
down by its attachment in the starter
housing so that the steel wire (A)
glides off the spring.
