WARNING!
Protective glasses should be worn when working on the starter to avoid injury to the eyes if,
for some reason, the return spring should fl y out.
Dismantling
Dismantle the cylinder cover to make sub-
sequent starter assembly easier.
Pull off the spark plug protector.
Remove the 4 screws holding the cylinder
cover.
Lift off the cover.

Dismantling
To make subsequent starter assembly
easier, we recommend dismantling the
cylinder cover.
Pull the spark plug guard off the spark
plug. If required, use a screwdriver.
Remove the 4 screws holding the cylinder
cover, 2 on the starter side and 2 on the
clutch side.
Then lift off the cover.
Note the cable duct in the lower edge of
the cover.
Remove the 4 screws holding the starter
and take it out of the engine body.
