3-1 . I NTRODUCTI ON
This section provides assembly service information for the HP 4284A P R EC I S I O N LCR
M ETE R (20 H z to 1 M H z) assemblies.
3-2. SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
This section contains WARNINGS and CAUTIONS that must be followed for your protection
and to avoid damaging the equipment.

W H E N POWER IS SUPPLIED T O T H E INSTRUMENT A N D ITS PROTECTIVE COV·
ERS ARE REMOVED. THIS TYPE OF MAINTENANCE MUST BE PERFORMED
ONLY BY SERVICE·TRAINED PERSONNEL WHO ARE AWARE O F THE HAZARDS
I NVOLVED (FOR EXAMPLE, FIRE AND ELECTRICAL SHOCK).
TENANCE CAN BE PERFORMED WITHOUT POWER APPLIED TO THE I NSTRU·
MENT, REMOVE POWER FROM THE I NSTRUMENT. BEFORE ANY R EPAIR IS
COMPLETED, ENSURE THAT ALL SAFETY FEATU RES ARE I NTACT AND
FUNCTION I NG, AND THAT ALL NECESSARY PARTS ARE PROPERLY CONNECT·
ED TO THE PROTECTIVE GROUNDING SYSTEM.
3-3. RECOMMENDED TEST EQU IPMENT
The required troubleshooting test equi pment are listed in Table 1 -1 , Section 1 . The table
lists the type of instruments requ ired , their critical specifications, and the model numbers of
the equipment recommended. If the recommended models are not available, equipment
which meets or exceeds all of the critical specifications may be substituted.
