  • Page 72 3-9-4. TRANSDUCER BLOCK SECTION The HP 4284A employees the current-to-votlage coverter as a ammeter. See Fig u re 3-7. The current through the OUT is detected by a current-to-voltage (I-V) converter using a resis tor (Range resistor, R R) in the feedback circuit. The I-V converter generates a cu rrent flow through the range resistor equal to the current through the OUT.
  • Page 73 The auto barance bridge circuitly used in the 4284A ensures that the vector voltage across the feedback resistor will be an accurate proportional representation of the c urrent through the device under test. The basic principle of the auto-balance-bridge circuit is explained in terms of the two oscillator model illustrated in Figure 3-8.
  • Page 74 The actual auto balance bridge circuit is composed of the A2 modulator and A3 range resis tor boards . The auto balance bridge consists of a null detector, a vector generator, and a feedback resistor (range resistor). The null detector consists of a cu rrent-to-voltage (I-V) converter, a phase detector, and an integrator.
