Safety instructions for pneumatic connections

Injuries from pneumatic actuators
Due to the high operating forces of the pneumatic actuator, work done on control valves
carries a risk of injuries.
Please observe the corresponding safety instructions for the pneumatic actuator in use.
5.2.2
Pneumatic connection
Owing to safety reasons, the pneumatic auxiliary power supply must be fed after installation
only if the positioner is switched to the "Manual mode" when an electrical signal is
available.
NOTICE
Observe the specifications regarding the air quality in accordance with section "Technical
data (Page 155)".
Procedure
In the case of integrated mounting with the OPOS Interface (VDI/VDE 3847) interface, the
pneumatic connections are already connected. Mounting of the positioner is described in
section "Mounting on actuator with OPOS interface (VDI/VDE 3847) (Page 31)". Connect the
supply air directly at the input of the actuator intended for this purpose.
If the interface of the actuator does not correspond with the VDI/VDE 3847 directive, the
positioner is mounted using the adapter block of the corresponding mounting kit. The
description is supplied with the respective mounting kit and is not part of this operating
instructions.
Note
After installing the pneumatic connections, check the tightness of the entire control valve.
Besides continuous air consumption, the positioner may try to compensate the position
deviation due to leakage. This will lead to premature wear in the entire control unit.
