Your SD 38 ISDN comfort telephone can be used in conjunction with a varix 14 or a varix 200 PABX
system. It offers a wide variety of facilities allowing fast and flexible access to other subscribers.
Your telephone can be used at a single workplace, or additional keys can be installed enabling it to be
used in various configurations at a team workplace. On the following pages, some of the most common key
functions are explained. Please note that your telephone may have been configured with a different key
layout.
In addition to the numeral keys and fixed function keys, every telephone is equipped with one or several call
keys for making internal or external telephone calls. Further keys to facilitate telephoning are the
DESTINATION keys and the DIRECT CALL keys which can be programmed with customized numbers, and
also the FUNCTION keys which can be programmed with facilities offered by the service menu.
At single workplaces, the individual call keys (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL) are available for making internal or
external calls. Here, you can make calls using the number assigned to your telephone and reach other
subscribers by dialling their appropriate number.
At team workplaces, INTERNAL and EXTERNAL keys are assigned to several telephones. This means that
each team member has access to the call keys of the other team members and can thus use other members'
lines/numbers or pick up calls for other team members.
Team telephones are accessed by simply pressing the TEAM or PARTNER keys.
Different team groups can be configured depending on the team's function. The different kinds of team are
explained in the appendix to this manual.
Our service department will tell you which features are installed on your telephone. The following pages
provide an overview of the various key functions for each team variant. Get to know the versatile facilities of
your telephone. In this way you will learn about a lot of new functions and, in the course of time, come to
appreciate the advantages they provide.
