General A special feature of your PABX system is that you can combine several telephones to form a team. One BManager/secretary telephones General variant of the team function is the manager/secretary configuration, which is particularly useful in office communication. The following pages explain what your telephone can do when configured in this way and how it is operated.
General Size of team Depending on individual requirements, up to 3 ”manager“ telephones with conference table telephone and 3 ”secretary“ telephones can be combined in a manager/secretary configuration. varix SD 38, varix S 37 and varix SD 38 B (with add-on unit) telephones can be used. The following combinations are possible: - 1 manager telephone and 1 secretary telephone - 2 manager telephones and 1 secretary telephone - 2 manager telephones and 2 secretary telephones...
Key layout Key layout Example: the This example shows the first manager telephone in a configuration with 2 managers and 2 secretaries. manager’s IINTERNAL key (I): workplace This key is assigned to the telephone number of the manager's telephone. It accesses internal lines or is used to answer calls for the manager's telephone.

The key layouts for the individual manager’s variants are shown in the appendix. Your service engineer can provide you with information on the key workplace layout of your telephones.
Key layout Example: This example shows the first secretary telephone in a configuration with 2 managers and 2 secretaries. The secretary’s workplace PARTNER key (P): A single keystroke on this key is used to call managers or secretaries directly: MULTIPLE-INTERNAL keys (MI) You can use these keys to answer calls for the secretaries or managers and/or use their lines.
Key layout Example: Depending on the size of the manager-secretary team, each secretary telephone has a different key layout. This example describes the basic arrangement and functions of the keys. The key layouts for the individual secretary’s variants are shown in the appendix. Your service engineer can provide you with information on the key workplace layout of your telephones.

Making internal calls using MI keys The INTERNAL keys of every telephone in the manager-secretary team are also configured in parallel as call keys on the other telephones. On the other telephone, this call key is called a MULTIPLE-INTERNAL key (MI). You can also use these keys (MI SEC .., MI MANAGER ..) for making internal calls.

Making external calls ... with direct dialling If the “preselected/en-block dialling” facility is not programmed on your telephone, you can dial directly. Passing on a call At the manager or secretary telephone you can (if configured by the DeTeWe service engineer) transfer an internal or an external call to another external subscriber. In this way, it may be possible to connect two to an external external subscribers via your PABX system.

Using a conference table telephone Standard If a standard telephone (or a cordless telephone) is connected as a conference table telephone, the confe- rence table telephone receives its own telephone number and can be called using this number. Special facilities Notes BService menu In chapter C of the telephone operating instructions (manual 1) you will find instructions on activating faci- lities using the service menu. Two of these facilities (ring signal assignment, delegation/deputy configura- tions) are described again on the following pages, as they are very often used in manager-secretary teams. If you do not want to go through all the individual steps every time you want to set up these facilities, you can program free keys on your telephone so that the procedures can be carried out with a single key-stroke (cf.

Delegation / deputy configuration The delegation / deputy configuration is mainly used for two secretary telephones. If you are not (no longer) available to stand in for someone else in a delegation/ delegation deputy configuration, you can switch off an existing delegation (=off).
