DURING OPERATION

Electric Start

Firmly hold the engine stop lever against the handle (1)
and push the electric start button (2) until you hear the
engine start and then release the button. If the engine
stop lever is released, the engine will stop.

NOTE: To prolong the life of the starter, do not crank
the engine for more than 15 seconds in any one
minute.
If the engine does not start after repeated attempts,
contact your local Hayter Authorised Service Dealer
or go to briggsandstratton.com.
To prevent engine damage do not operate the electric
start button when the engine is running.

Forward Travel

Firmly hold the engine stop lever (1) against the handle
(2) and push the electric start button (3). Squeeze the
ground drive clutch lever (4) toward the handle and
hold it to power the mower in a forward direction.
Ground speed may be adjusted by operating the
variable speed control (5). Push forward to speed up
and pull back to slow down.

When the ground drive clutch lever is disengaged the
mower may be pushed. This feature is useful when
mowing in confi ned areas.

Shutting off the Engine

To shut off the engine, release the engine stop lever (1)
and ground drive clutch lever (2). Remove the electric
start button (3).

Important: When you release the engine stop lever,
the engine should shut off and the blade should stop
within 3 seconds. If they do not, stop using your
mower immediately and contact a Hayter Authorised
Service Dealer.
Emergency stop: As above. If the engine fails to stop,
remove the electric start button (1) and disconnect
the spark plug lead (2).

Parking

Park on level ground.

Turning

To prevent accidents do not raise the front of the
mower excessively when making a turn. Never raise
the rear of the mower when the engine is running.
To make a wide turn, steer the mower with the handle
in the direction required.
To make a tight turn release the ground drive clutch
lever, apply downward pressure on the handle to raise
the front wheels just above ground level and steer in
the required direction.

Trim Side Cutting

Incorporation of a Trim Side allows you to cut right
to the edge. This is ideal for mowing around borders,
raised fl ower beds and retaining walls.
