Installations Guidelines

These guidelines are not intended to inform on
fundamental safety, refrigeration and electrical
design skills. It is assumed and presumed that
persons using this manual will be appropriately
certified and have detailed knowledge,
experience and skills in respect to designing
for and working with high pressure refrigerants
and medium voltage electrical components (to
1 KV high power AC & DC) as well as complex
control systems.
Some potential safety situations may not be
foreseen or covered in the manual. Danfoss
Turbocor (DTC) expects personnel using this
The compressor should be carefully inspected

reported to the carrier, not DTC. DTC Customer
Support and Service can be contacted to assist

The compressor is shipped pressurized with Helium to 345 kPa (50 psi). Pressure must be relieved through
the Schrader valve on the compressor, at the economizer blind flange, prior to removing any connection or
blanking plate. Isolation and recovery of the refrigerant must be performed by a qualified technician. Always
wear proper safety equipment when handling refrigerants.
This equipment contains hazardous voltages that can cause injury or death. Only qualified and trained
personnel should work on high-voltage electrical equipment. • DC-DC board input and output voltages are
1000V DC and 250V DC, respectively. • Removing motor terminal cover on the compressor can expose you
to high voltage. • Opening the Drive Module door exposes you to a high-voltage on the power connection
terminals (380-600V AC) and DC Bus connections (600-1000V DC). • When servicing or replacing a Drive Module,
the high-voltage capacitors must be discharged before opening any of the compressor access covers.
• The compressor should be carefully inspected
for visible signs of damage.
• Check for damage to covers or outer casing.
Damage should first be reported to the carrier.
• Damage should be specified on the Bill of
Lading or transportation/freight forwarder
documentation.

and equipment.
Safety precautions must be observed during
installation, startup, and service of the
compressor due to the presence of refrigerant
charge and high-voltage hazards. Only qualified
personnel should install, start up, and service
this equipment. Safety information is located
throughout the manual to alert service personnel
of potential hazards.
