Motor Cooling Inlet Connection
To cool the motor, sub-cooled liquid refrigerant
enters the compressor through the expansion
valve and passes through grooves surrounding
the motor stator. At the coil outlet, the
superheated refrigerant gas is channeled back
to the exit port via the motor cavity, thereby
cooling the rotor.

The temperature sensor located inside the end
cap measures gas temperature prior to entering
the motor cavity and determines the superheat
level; the expansion valve modulates to maintain
this pre-determined superheat level.
