Chapter 4 Installation and
This chapter describes the installation and wiring of FL312.

4.1 FL312 Installation

FL312 is installed in the I/O bus slot of the integrated controller model 3000 basic unit and
expansion unit. Up to 4 modules can be installed in each integrated controller station
system.

4.2 Module Installation Procedure

Turn off the power (controller power and external 12 VDC power) before installing the module.
Attempting to install or remove while the power is on can result in electrical shock.
Install the FL312 module according to the following procedure:
(1)
Check that the power is off.
Do not install/remove the module while the power is on because it is dangerous.
(2) Install the FL312 module in the I/O bus slot.
The module installation procedure is the same as model 3000 I/O module.

Connect the 12 Vdc +/- terminals of the MAU power supply terminal block to external
power supply (12 VDC) only when using 10BASE5.
Connect the FG (frame ground) of the MAU power supply terminal block to ground line
regardless of whether you are using 10BASE5 or 10BASE-T.
Perform this step with the external power turned off.
(4) Connect the communication cable.
If you are using 10BASE5, connect the AUI cable to the 10BASE5 connector.
If you are using 10BASE-T, connect the UTP cable to the 10BASE-T connector.

About the power line noise filter
Install a noise filter on the power supply line in order to minimize the effect of noise
from the power supply line.
