This chapter describes the handling of data communicated with other nodes through cyclic
transmission. Cyclic data is communicated through FL312 common memory.
8.1 Data Transfer by Batch I/O
Data I/O by batch I/O is the most common data transfer method for the S controller. This is
the method used to perform "Network Variable Registration/Assignment" with Engineering
Tool 2 as described in section 6.5. With this assignment, the data in common memory is
assigned to network variables and the data transfer between the common memory and the
network variable is performed by the S controller OS in batch at the beginning of the
sequence. Therefore, the user program can treat data as network variables without being
aware of the common memory.

The data type is WORD or BOOLEAN with this method. Therefore, data synchronicity is
guaranteed only up to one word (16 bits). If synchronicity of multiple word data is necessary,
refer to the following section "Data Transfer by I/O Instruction."
