Upgrading an existing Data Domain system to an HA pair consists of the following tasks:
Table 18 HA upgrade tasks
Task
If necessary, perform a controller upgrade to
convert an existing Data Domain system to a
DD9500.
If necessary, upgrade the DD OS version on
the existing system to the same version that is
installed on the new DD9500 node.
If necessary, migrate data from SATA shelves
to SAS shelves.
If any data connections exist in slot 11 of the
existing node, move those connections to
ports on a different I/O module.
Install a 10 GbE I/O module in slot 11 of the
existing node.
Install the new DD9500 node in the rack.
Connect the data cables on the new node to
match the cabling configuration of the
existing node.
Disable the DDFS on the existing node.
Power down the existing node.
Cable the new node to the disk shelves.
Cable the interconnect between the two
nodes.
Power on the existing node, then the new
node.
Apply the HA license on the existing node.
Configure HA from the existing node.
Re-enable the DDFS on the existing node.
