Problem / Symptom
Thaw progress is below
capacity.
Pump will not start.
Hose rewind does not work. The hose reel brake is not
Pump is noisy and HTF flow

Reason
The insulation is insuffi-
cient.
The moisture is insufficient.
There is no vapor barrier.
The HTF is not flowing.
The temperature control is
not set properly.
The soil conditions are not
as expected.
There is no power.
The HTF temperature is
below -26°C (-15°F).
fully released.
The motor temperature is
below nominal value
(<–18°C (0°F)).
The foot pedal switch has
failed.
The operation valve is not
fully open.
The HTF temperature is
below -26°C (-15°F).
The strainer basket is
clogged.
Hose loops not seperated.

Troubleshooting
Remedy
Add additional insulation
blankets.
Verify that there is standing
water on job site.
Lay down vapor barrier.
Verify that the pump pres-
sure is nominal and hoses
are not restricted.
Set the temperature control
to optimum setting. This
setting depends on environ-
mental conditions at the job
site.
Re-evaluate thawing plan
based on job site condi-
tions.
Verify that the breaker
switch is ON. Verify that the
HTF level is within range
and low level cutoff control
is reset (low level indicator
light must be OFF).
Warm the HTF and hoses
before turning on the
pumps; see topic Preheat-
ing the Heat Transfer Fluid
(HTF) in this manual.
Fully release the hose reel
brake.
Warm the enclosure by run-
ning the burner with all
doors closed, or warm the
enclosure using an exter-
nal heat source.
Replace the foot pedal
switch.
Verify that the operation
valve is fully open.
Warm the HTF and hoses
before starting machine;
see topic Preheating the
HTF in this manual.
Clean the strainer basket;
see topic Cleaning the HTF
Strainer.
Separate the hose loops.
