Step 7: Collecting Logs

Collecting IP Converter Logs

The IP converters support the Syslog protocol. You can
collect and save IP converter logs by first configuring a
Syslog server.
Setting up a Syslog server
Set up a Syslog server before starting the configuration.
Configuring IP converter log settings
To save IP converter logs using the Syslog server, settings
in Network System Manager must be configured to link
the IP converters with the Syslog server.
Linking the IP converters with the Syslog server
Use the following procedure.

Deactivate the workgroup (see page 32).

Click [Settings] > [Physical Device].
The [Physical Device List] screen appears.

Select an IP converter to link, and click the [Detail]
button.
The [Detail of Physical Device] dialog appears.

Select the [Maintenance] tab, and click the [+] (Add)
button.
If optical fiber cable redundancy is disabled, click
once. If enabled, click twice.
The Syslog list is added.

Select the added Syslog list, and configure the
following items.
[IP Address]: Enter the IP address of the Syslog server.
[Port]: 514
[Severity Type]: Select [Error].
[Protocol]: Select [UDP].

Click the [Apply] button.
The configuration data is written to the IP converter.
The [Synchronize] button changes to blue if writing is
successful.

Click the [Synchronize] button.
