3-13 COVER BOARD ADJUSTMENT

Before operating the harrow, make sure the
leveling boards are set correctly for the current
amount of residue and soil ridge heights.
3-13.1
Recommended Settings:
a. Connect cover-board hydraulic lines into a
secondary bank hydraulic valve (if positioned
in a primary bank, you may not be able to turn
the down pressure control knob.) Lock the hy-
draulic control lever into the down position so
the cover boards will maintain constant down
pressure across the width of the harrow - au-
tomatically compensating for ridges or de-
pressions in the terrain. If a cover board hits a
rock or obstruction, it will float up and return
to its down position.
b. The factory recommended setting would be
a pressure reading between 0 - 500 lbs. of
pressure for optimum performance (See Fig-
ure 3-22). If more leveling is desired, increase
the pressure setting. If bunching of residue is
observed, decrease the pressure setting.
3-12
IMPORTANT
WHEN PRESSURE SETTING IS ABOVE 200
LBS., IT IS NECESSARY TO RAISE THE HY-
DRAULIC BOARDS WHEN TURNING ON THE
ENDS. DAMAGE TO THE COVER BOARDS
COULD RESULT IF YOU FAIL TO FOLLOW
THIS PROCEDURE.
