9.10 Radiator

NOTE :
Do not remove radiator filler cap until coolant tem-
perature is below its boiling point. Then loosen cap
slightly to the stop to relieve any excess pressure
before removing cap completely.
Checking, Refilling and Changing Coolant
1. Remove the radiator pressure cap and check to see
that the coolant level is just below the port. If low,
add a 50/50 mixture of clean water and antifreeze.
Prescribed Quantity
IMPORTANT :
Use clean, fresh water to fill the radiator.
Securely tighten the radiator cap.
2. To drain the coolant, open the radiator drain cock
and remove radiator cap. The radiator cap must be
removed to completely drain the radiator.
3. When finished, be sure to close the pressure cap
securely. If the cap is loose or improperly closed,
water may leak out and the engine could overheat.
4. Radiator should be filled with a mixer of anti-freeze
and water at all times as recommended by the anti-
freeze manufacturer. The anti-freeze contains a cor-
rosion inhibitor and will allow a higher operating
temperature in the radiator during the hot season.
5. Don't use an anti-freeze and scale inhibitor at the
same time.
