IMPORTANT :
When the fuel pipe is disconnected for change, close
both ends of the fuel pipe with a piece of clean cloth
or paper to prevent dust and dirt from entering. En-
trance of dust and dirt may a malfunction of the fuel
injection pump. In addition, particular care must be
taken not to admit dust into the fuel pump.
Cleaning the Fuel Filter Pot
When period of operation reaches approx. 100 hours,
clean the fuel filter.
This job should not be done in the field, but in a clean
place so as to prevent dust entry.
1. Clean the outside surfaces of the fuel fitter assem-
bly. If a drain tap is fitted to the filter bowl, drain the
fuel from the filter.
2. Hold the bottom cover of the filter element and re-
lease the setscrew (1) which is fitted through the
filter head above the center of the element.
3. Lower the bottom cover (6) of the filter.
4. Remove the element (4) and clean it.
5. Clean the inside surfaces of the filter head an the
cover.
6. Reassembly the seal (3 and 5) and the O ring(2).
The larger seal is fitted to the filter head and the
smaller seal is fitted to the bottom cover.
7. Put the bottom cover under the element and hold
the element squarely to the filter head. Ensure that
the element is fitted in the center against the O ring
in the filter head. With the assembly in this posi-
tion, engage and tighten the setscrew.
8. Eliminate the air from the fuel filter.
IMPORTANT :
If dust and dirt enter the fuel, the fuel pump and
injection nozzle are subject to quick wear. To pre-
vent this, be sure to clean the fuel filter pot periodi-
cally.
